Week 6: Surfing The Tsunami chapter 5 - MKTG 348

If you can't tell I love Artificial Intelligence. I am constantly exploring and seeing whats being created and changed. In chapter 5 of Surfing The Tsunami you will learn about the Adopt stage of AI. I am crossing the bridge from adapting to AI to adopting to AI. In my last post I talked about my recent discovery of Google AI predicting Heart Disease. I have been continuously looking at AI articles to get my feet wet. But now after reading chapter 5 its time to move forward and adopt to AI.

To adopt to AI it would be a good idea to look into programs such as DataRobot to explore and play around. DataRobot is automated machine learning. There are six different types of things that DataRobot works for; data science apprentices, business analysts, data scientists, executives, software engineers and IT professionals.

Here's a look inside the business analysts tab:

Playing around with tools like DataRobot is an awesome way to adopt to AI and get your feet wet. Its easy to use too. If you are in the adopt stage I highly recommend checking out DataRobot. And continue to explore different AI tools. Get to know whats out there. Read as many articles as you can, you never know what AI will take over next.

Week #6 Google AI to predict Heart Disease - MKTG 348

Today I came across an interesting article Google Artificial Intelligence to Predict Heart Disease. I read that and was intrigued. Google is applying its AI to be able to predict how likely it is for a patient to have a heart attack or a stroke. That's pretty awesome in my opinion. The Google AI bots will be able to make these predictions by examining the patients retina. Below is a diagram that shows where in the eye the retina is.

Looking at the diagram above you would think that the Google AI inspection would be very invasive, but it is not. It's non invasive and very accurate. Not only can the Google AI predict heart disease it can also predict; age, blood pressure and if a person smokes. I think that is just amazing.  According to fox news, "Google used models based on data from 284,335 patients.  It was also able to deduce a persons age, blood pressure, and whether they smoke. The findings were published in the in Nature Biomedical Engineering, an online medical journal, says that such a method is as accurate as predicting cardiovascular disease through more invasive measures that involve sticking a needle in a patient's arm.

This advacemwnt is still in developing stages. According to Lily Peng, "“The caveat to this is that it’s early, (and) we trained this on a small data set,” says Google’s Lily Peng, a doctor and lead researcher on the project. “We think that the accuracy of this prediction will go up a little bit more as we kind of get more comprehensive data. Discovering that we could do this is a good first step. But we need to validate.”" Peng hopes future scientist will continue to research this and build on top of what is already known.

Week 5: Introduction to SEO chapter 4 - MKTG 348

In this weeks chapter of Intro to SEO we learned about keywords. Keywords are words that have high significance. For example, if you were to search 'badminton rackets' millions of results would come up containing the keywords 'badminton' or 'rackets'. The first few results are going to be the highest ranked when it comes to content. With that being said it is good to do a little research before obtaining a good keyword.

To find good keywords we can use a website called Wordtracker. Using Wordtracker will help you find a keyword that multiple people are searching for. One thing to take note of is to try and find a key word that is not too specific, because a lot of people may not be looking for that word. Below is a screen shot of what happened when I typed 'badminton rackets' into Wordtracker.

If you look at the picture above you can see Wordtracker came up with 20 word suggestions that may be helpful to use as keywords. We can also see the amount of times the word has been searched for this month. This website is very useful, it really breaks things down. Before creating your own keyword I highly suggest checking out this website.

Week 5: Surfing The Tsunami chapter 4 - MKTG 348

If you are still not convinced that AI is going to play a huge roll in the future you need to stop and read previous posts about AI before you read this one. If you've already realized that AI is going to impact the future feel free to continue to read on. Or just read on up to you.

Artificial intelligence is here and evolving and we need to be ready to adapt. According to Todd Kelsey the should adapt, adopt and adept to AI. There are many ways one can adapt to AI. Reading articles is a great place to start, make sure they are from credible sources. News sources are a great place to start. Books are also a great place to get a deeper insight to AI.

After reading this chapter I Googled "artificial intelligence adapting" because I was curious to see what would come up. There is so much information out there and it will continue to grow.

Not only do articles come up but books too. One thing I want to make a note of is that since AI is always evolving so are the articles. Chapter 4 touches on this. It is important to keep up with AI news. It is also important to make it a habit of reading these articles. Books are great but eventually the news in them will be outdated. Sure we can look to them to see how far AI has evolved but the fastest way to get to the date information is to look up articles. Once you have adapted AI it is time to move forward to the adopt stage.

Week 4: Introduction to SEO chapter 3 - MKTG 348

After reading the first two chapter of Introduction to SEO I was curious the see where the content was going. Luckily, this chapter explained just that. The main places content is going it on social media and Ad campaigns. Like mentioned in a previous post, the more content you put up the more likely you are going to be found.

There are five basic steps that will help to better understand SEO:
1. Add more content
2. Get more visitors
3. Get more Google notices
4. Get a higher rank on Google.
5. Web site increases in value.
(Todd Kelsey Introduction to Search Engine Optimization)

Content content content. That is the number one thing we need to remember. Kelsey states that 90% of search engine optimization is content. The other 10% is little technical things. This is something that has become stuck in my brain. In order to follow those five steps you'll need to start with the content.

After reading the first three chapter of this book all I can think about is content. After you create content you need to post it all over social media. The more you post the more visitors you'll bring in. The more visitors you have the higher rank you'll have on Google. The higher your rank on Google the more value your web site will have. You cannot have one thing without doing the other. Placing your content on social media is the best thing  because tons of people look to their social media accounts everyday. The other place to post is ads. Try creating a boosted post on Facebook for the heck of it and see what happens. That could significantly make a difference.  I look at all these things and see that they are a trial and error process. You have to learn from the things you do in order to get better at them. It may be hard and confusing when first starting out, but thats totally okay. When I first started my blogger I had no idea what I was doing. Now I understand it so much more and I am still learning new things about it. Who knows, maybe one day my blogger will be at the top of a Google search.

Week 4: Surfing the Tsunami chapter 3 - MKTG 348

AI has had a great impact on the job market already. And it will continue to impact the job market as time goes on. Lets look at banks as an example. My bank used to have only tellers. Tellers are real life people who you need talk to in order to get you money. Over the years my bank got ATMs. (Automated teller machines) The ATMs are robots that help with banking needs.

At first my bank only had two ATMs, that was about 3 years ago. Now My bank has four brand new ATMs and guess what? The drive up window is permanently closed. There are tellers for the outside of the bank. Any one who wants to talk to a real person must go inside. Once you go inside you'll notice that there are not many people. There has been a drastic change at this bank over the last five years. Mostly do to AI, and it doesn't stop there. If you're not convinced go check out chapter three of Surfing the Tsunami after reading that chapter I'm sure your opinions will change.

Tellers are not the only people who's jobs are at risk by AI. The list goes on and on. Reading all these articles about AI makes me think, Is AI going to effect our future generations job market?
